After I was out of town last weekend and a week from you know where, we decided that a little dinner and movie date was very necessary. Last night was one of those beautiful little Indian Summer joints. The air is just slightly crisp and clear. People are in great moods because it's not sweaty and gross. Perfection, basically.
We typically find ourselves in a rut when it comes to eating out. We find a couple spots that work for us and we just stick to them. Which is totally crazy given this is NYC/Brooklyn. Food meccas. So we're making more of an effort to venture out to satisfy our palates (while it's not sub zero out there, anyway). Last night our quest took us out to Columbia Street for a bit of outdoor dining at Alma.
The view isn't quite as amazing as promised, but it's nice. No doubt. I forgot my camera so I had to steal this one from their site. Nice, right?
After a couple nice Mexican beers and some chips and salsa, Meena got going with:
- steak fajitas (premium angus marinated skirt steak, grilled & served with salsa avocate con queso, grilled scallion, pico de gallo and fresh corn tortillas)
And Alec had:
- pollo fajitas (grilled, chipotle brushed chicken breast served with salsa avocate con queso, grilled scallion, pico de gallo and fresh corn tortillas)
I think the food was really delicious. I like Mexican food a lot. And it's just one of those things I can't make as well at home. It's always better out.
Meena made the better decision. Her steak was superior to the chicken, but that shouldn't lead you to believe I didn't like mine. It was good. I'm just saying the steak was better.
Alma was great. We'll be back for sure.
